Semax
ACTH 4-10 analog
Each vial contains 10 mg of Semax.
Semax is a synthetic analogue of ACTH 4-10, a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone stripped of the parent hormone’s activity. The rodent work centres on BDNF and NGF expression in the hippocampus and on the signalling through which synaptic plasticity is measured, alongside behavioural cognitive testing. The clinical work covers ischaemic stroke and cognitive disorders; most of it is published in Russian and has not been replicated outside that tradition. Registered as a medicine in Russia only — not in Canada, the United States or the EU.

How it works
What remained after the parent hormone’s activity was stripped out is the whole of what this literature measures, and that is why the molecule is studied as its own compound rather than as another ACTH analogue. What follows is the rodent pathway work, then the human studies, then how far either can be taken.
ACTH 4-10 analogue
What it is
A seven-residue analogue of the ACTH 4-10 fragment, deliberately stripped of the parent hormone’s activity. The molecule is studied as that fragment, not as ACTH.
BDNF and NGF
Rodent work in hippocampus
Rodent studies of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and nerve growth factor expression in the hippocampus. That is the pathway literature, and it is work in models, not a finding about anybody’s neurons.
Synaptic plasticity
What was measured
The signalling through which synaptic plasticity is measured in those models, alongside behavioural cognitive testing. The tests are what the animal work used; they are not a result in a person.
Clinical work
Ischaemic stroke and cognitive disorders
Human studies covering ischaemic stroke and cognitive disorders. That literature is concentrated in one country and one research tradition, and has not been widely replicated outside it.
Where the evidence stands
Registered as a medicine in Russia only. Not approved in Canada, the United States or the EU. The clinical literature is largely from that one tradition and is not widely replicated.
Laboratory results
Opened as the laboratory issued them, unedited. Every certificate we publish
Research use only
Supplied as a laboratory research chemical. Not a drug, food or cosmetic, and not for human or veterinary use. No application guidance is provided or implied.
