Selectivity is why this one was characterised at all. The earlier growth-hormone secretagogues moved more than one hormone, and what the work on this pentapeptide measured was whether this one did not — so the literature is about what stayed still as much as about what moved.

What was measured
Animal work and early-phase human studies measured pulsatile release of growth hormone from the pituitary, against baseline and against the older compounds in the class.

Tracked specifically to show they were unmoved. The earlier secretagogues shifted both, and that difference is the finding this compound is known for.

Not this compound’s literature
Protein synthesis, body composition and sleep sit in the growth-hormone literature, not in the papers on this pentapeptide. The work on ipamorelin itself stops at whether GH was released and whether cortisol and prolactin were not.
Where the evidence stands
Preclinical and early clinical. It reached trials in postoperative ileus before development stopped, and no approved indication was ever established.
