Longevity and cellular research compounds
Three compounds studied in the biology of cellular energy and oxidative state, supplied in Canada for laboratory research: NAD+, MOTS-c and glutathione. "Longevity" names the research field they are studied in, not a property of the material.
NAD+ is nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a coenzyme present in every living cell rather than a synthetic peptide. Its basic-science literature is enormous, covering redox reactions, sirtuin and PARP activity, and cellular metabolism. Nearly all of it concerns the coenzyme inside a cell, which is a different question from a vial of it.
MOTS-c is one of the few peptides encoded in mitochondrial DNA. Cell and rodent work covers mitochondrial-to-nuclear signalling, AMPK, and glucose and fatty-acid handling; human studies have measured it as a circulating marker without testing it as an intervention.
Glutathione is a tripeptide of glutamate, cysteine and glycine and the most abundant thiol antioxidant inside cells. A long-running question in its literature is whether glutathione supplied from outside a cell reaches the inside at all; controlled human trials are small, short and mixed.
None of the three is approved as a medicine in Canada. Every lot has a published certificate of analysis.
Supplied for laboratory research use only, not for human or veterinary use. Certificates for every lot are on testing results.
