Calculator
Working-solution arithmetic.
Converts vial mass and diluent volume into a concentration, then a target amount into a draw. Vial mass is the catalog size of the compound you pick. Nothing here is a protocol, and no amount is recommended.
Laboratory research only · Not for human or veterinary use
Vial mass is the catalog size for this compound. It does not suggest a target amount.
How much compound per aliquot, in milligrams. Leave blank to see concentration only.
Concentration
750mg / mL
Enter a target amount to convert that concentration into a draw volume.
Handling
Dissolving a lyophilised cake.
Laboratory technique for reconstituting a sealed vial. It is handling, not a protocol for use, and it does not state a beyond-use date.
01/Work clean
Use a clean bench, wash hands, and open a fresh sterile syringe or pipette for each reconstitution. Keep the stopper on the vial except while transferring diluent.
02/Swab the closures
Wipe the rubber stoppers of the peptide vial and the diluent vial with separate alcohol swabs. Allow them to dry before puncture.
03/Measure the diluent
Draw the volume from the Diluent tab, or the volume you entered on the Aliquot tab. If drawing from a sealed vial, equalise pressure by introducing air first.
04/Run the diluent down the glass
Angle the needle or tip so the liquid travels down the inner wall of the vial. Direct contact with the lyophilised cake can degrade some sequences.
05/Dissolve without shear
Roll the vial between the palms until the cake is gone. Do not shake. Foaming and shear break peptide bonds.
06/Store as documented
Lyophilised storage is printed on each product page. Once in solution, follow your laboratory SOP. This site does not state a beyond-use date for reconstituted material.
07/Withdraw each aliquot
Swab the stopper before every withdrawal. Use a fresh sterile needle or pipette tip. Compute the draw on the Aliquot tab for the amount required in that session.
Questions
The arithmetic, not a protocol.
Sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, a preservative that limits bacterial growth in a multi-withdrawal vial. It is a common laboratory diluent for reconstituting lyophilised peptides. Plain sterile water has no preservative; laboratories that use it typically treat the vial as single-use.
